Compulsory gear

There is no compulsory gear for this event.

However we strongly recommend that if the day is cold or raining that everyone wears or takes a thermal top layer (polypropylene or Merino), decent rain jacket or both. This is especially important for those people who may be on the course for more than an hour.

Cut off times

Cut offs apply to the Full and Half Marathon event only.

There is a cut off at the 21km point of the marathon of 4 hours and a final cut off of 8 hours after the race start.

Half marathon participants have 6 hours to complete the course.

Drop bags

Marathon runners and walkers can take a drop bag over on the ferry to the start line at Cooks Beach, leave the drop bag with the event staff and they will return it to the finish line. Please ensure that your bag is closed and clearly named with your full name.

There will be a range of food and beverages at the start / finish line at Buffalo Beach reserve available for purchase.

All events start and finish at the Buffalo Beach reserve except for the marathon that starts at Ferry Landing (across the river on a Ferry) which is 1.5km from Buffalo Beach.

Pets

Pets are allowed at the event base, but must be strictly kept on a lead at all times.

NO Pets are allowed on course.

Prams and buggies

Prams are allowed on the 5km course only. All prams must start at the end of the fields. Please be very considerate of all other runners and walkers who may wish to pass you.

Qualification / preparation / minimum age

In order to compete in the marathon, you must be 18 years or older on the day of the event.

In order to compete in the half marathon, you must be 15 years or older on the day of the event.

In order to compete in the 5km, if you are under the age of 9 years old on the day of the event, you must be accompanied by an adult.

It is vital that you prepare well for this race. Preparation needs to include the physical training required to be fit enough to complete the distance you have chosen. Distance running does place stress on the body so if you have any doubts, you should consult your health professional.
And don’t forget to bring your ‘can do attitude’ – that will get you a long way!
